Our Pastors

Nate Birkholz, Senior Pastor—
Pastor Nate was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and raised in Minnesota.  He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Florida and Masters of Divinity Degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Virginia Beach.
While in seminary he served on the pastoral staff of Colonial Baptist Church in Virginia Beach.  In 2007 he accepted a call from Lakeshore Baptist to work with youth.  In June of 2013 the church called him to become senior pastor. 
He is married to Kris (Helland) and has four children—Adrianna, Natalie, Owen, and Seth. 
Pastor Nate enjoys spending time with his family, reading books, and an occasional good movie.  His favorite books are: To the Golden Shore by Courtney Anderson; The Supremacy of God in Preaching by John Piper; Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas; and Theology of the New Testament by Frank Thielman.
Pastor Nate, his two brothers, and his father, are all currently involved in pastoral ministry.

Wayne Muri, Assistant—
Pastor Wayne grew up in the Minneapolis / St Paul area.  He received a BA from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota in 1971 and an M.Div. from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis in 1975.  He served as first youth pastor at Berean Baptist Church from 1968-1971 then joined the church and seminary staff at Fourth Baptist Church from 1971-1988.  On July 6, 1988 he assumed the pastorate at Lakeshore where he served for 25 years.  He remains on staff as assistant to Pastor Nate.
He is married to Evelyn (Linn) and has two grown sons—Bryan, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Brandon, who lives in the Grand Haven area.
Pastor Muri’s great loves are reading books and magazines of all kinds, chess (which he is terrible at), and caring for a most uncooperative lawn.
Mike Schaap, Music Pastor—
Pastor Mike grew up in Holland, Michigan and attended Hyles-Anderson College in Indiana, earning a Bachelor of Science degree.  Upon graduation he took a position at Evergreen Baptist Church in Houston, Texas as music pastor and Bible teacher.  In 1986 he returned to West Michigan and has been serving at Lakeshore as a lay-pastor—first in youth and for the last 17 years overseeing the churches’ music ministry. 
Pastor Mike is married to Cynthia and they have three grown children—Adam (Michelle), Derek (Amy), and Alicia (Evan Barnhart).  He is blessed with three grandchildren which he adores.  Mike loves skiing, softball, hunting, travel, and music.  
Tim Arndt, Pastoral
Pastor Tim was raised in West Michigan by parents who were heavily involved in church planting in the Grand Rapids area.  He became a believer when he was 15 years old while attending Lakeshore Baptist Church.  After graduation from Lakeshore Christian Academy he attended Boyce College in Louisville, KY, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Worldviews and Apologetics. He is married to Alexandra (Green) whom he first noticed and set his eye on in 8th grade. 
Pastor Tim is a full-time pastoral intern, completing his second year, and is heavily involved with Jr. High ministries, event and program administration, and various children's ministries.   

Andy Jaspers, Pastoral Assistant (Youth)—
Pastor Andy grew up in Grand Haven, MI and attended Lakeshore Baptist Church for most of his childhood years. His parents were both on the church staff serving in Lakeshore Christian Academy.  He graduated from the academy in 2005, and from Clearwater Christian College in 2009 with a Bachelors degree in Bible.  He took his seminary training at Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Virginia Beach, graduating with a Masters of Divinity in 2013.
While in Virginia Beach attending seminary, he married Ashley Quiroz (2011) and they had their first child, Cora, in 2013.  Upon graduating in May 2013, Andy came to Lakeshore Baptist Church to take on the role of pastoral assistant overseeing the youth and children’s ministries.
